Going Out of Business

I remember when my Aunt worked at a factory that made records. She helped produce the 33’s and 45’s that played on a record player. I also remember the downsizing of the company when the technology changed. Finally, the company could not keep up with the rapid changes and eventually went out of business. Every day companies go out of business. It may be because of changes in technology, it could be due to mismanagement, or lack of customer demand. Even competition can ruin a business.

I am so glad that there is one organization that is guaranteed not to go out of business. It is the church of Jesus Christ. Our Lord promised in Matthew 16:18: “…on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”. Individual local churches may have to shut their doors for one reason or another. However, the church which is the body of Christ will never go out of business. We have the promise of Jesus Himself that even the forces of hell cannot succeed in eliminating the church. What a wonderful guarantee we have from our Savior.

Many organizations close because the products they manufacture or sell are no longer needed. Other things have come along. Flea markets and antique stores are filled with items that once were a vital part of our lives. But the church is commissioned with getting out a message that is and will always be needed. Man is a sinner and separated from God. The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only solution for man’s problem. The church is ordered to go into all the world and tell people that Jesus Christ died on the cross as payment for their sins. If they will repent and believe that Jesus died in their place they will be transformed into a child of God. I cannot think of a more priceless product that is universally needed. The best news in the whole world is the free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ.

I am glad that I know of at least one organization that will never go out of business; the church of Jesus Christ. Are you a part of it?
